What does the term transitional mean to you when talking about home decor? Picture Goldilocks in your mind. If she was decorating a house, transitional home decor would be what she describes as “just right”. Not too cold…not too formal…not too coastal. The house we worked on in Martha’s Vineyard blended the comfort and warmth of traditional (in this case coastal) and modern (hence the name transitional home decor) so well that I just had to share with you. This combo brings harmony into any home team collaboration app. The lines and paint choices of this dream home were very neutral and clean yet the furniture, paintings, carpets, and pop color pieces remained very beachy. Think white walls with ocean blue rugs and driftwood. Here is the stair runner we installed in West Tisbury on Tuesday. We had such a difficult time leaving!
This custom stair runner was fabricated by our entire team of installers and was for one of our designers. This kind of style is becoming increasingly popular. Like everything else in life, our styles are constantly changing and we like more than one thing. Transitional home decor allows you to wear many different hats.
Keep your eyes peeled for another blog that features the process that went into this fabulous stair runner. I had the opportunity to go along with the guys so I have awesome behind the scenes photos and some inside scoop on the life of a rug man (and woman now).
