How to Incorporate Fashion Design Trends in your Home
It’s a new year, and most of us have already looked into ways to change our living interiors by making our homes more refreshing.
What is currently trending, you ask? No matter what type of space you live in— small apartment, colonial or modern home — the best place to start is with your floors. Adding or replacing your carpet, area rugs or stair runners is a great place to start. Look no further for ideas or inspiration: The Carpet Workroom has you covered!
Without further ado, we first wanted to present Pantone’s Color of the Year and the carpet and rug trends we are predicting for 2022!
If you haven’t already heard, Pantone announced that its hue for the start of the new decade is “Very Peri.” The meaning of the color symbolizes the global zeitgeist of the moment and the transition we are going through. As we emerge from an intense period of isolation, our notions and standards are changing, and our physical and digital lives have merged in new ways (Pantone).
We’ve already incorporated this blue-purple color in a few of our custom projects! Even though you might not be in the market to buy a large purple area rug, you can still add that detail into your project’s binding or find a carpet that has subtle hints of purple that aren’t overwhelming. For example, the wool carpet seen below is a neutral color, but the designer on this project added a pop of purple to the area rug.
To get an idea of what our customers are ordering, here are some of our best sellers of 2022!
This list was curated by our own team in collaboration with some of our most popular interior designers. Please note that the styles we have listed are just a small selection of the products we carry. Please visit our showrooms in Needham and Stoughton to see all the samples we have with the color ways of each style and manufacturer!
Starting off, “Peter Island Stripe,” in the color “Graphite,” and “Martinique,” in the color “Silver,” have become our top best selling styles. The narrow herringbone design coupled with a bold vertical stripe in “Peter Island Stripe” is the reason it tops our best seller list. Other characteristics that contributed to its popularity are its durability and soft, neutral color palette. This makes it a perfect style option for homes with children, pets or high traffic.
“Martinique” in the color “Silver” has become a popular choice because of the merging of its neutral colors. Incorporated are warm beiges and specs of dark and light gray, making it a perfect option for most households. The other key detail is that this material comes in a 15-foot width, which is great for bigger spaces. “Martinique” is part of Kaleen’s Pure Life Collection. All Pure Life products are made from all-natural wool, which is a 100% renewable and biodegradable resource. So if you’re looking for an eco-friendly, non-toxic and hypoallergenic carpeting to bring into your home, these styles are the answer.
Also on our list is “Little Sorrel” by Kaleen in the color “Navy.” This flat-woven material is great for homes with high traffic areas. This striped carpet style has become a fixture in many New England homes, especially anywhere on the Cape, Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket. With the combination of navy and stripes, what better carpet than this to feature in your summer beach house?
While we love the blues, we know that neutral colors are always a demanded detail in the showroom. Many of our customers are looking for something neutral that has a pattern and can hide dirt. There aren’t many options that check all the boxes, but one of our favorites is the classic plaid by Crescent called “Tattersall.” This smooth woven carpet is made of 100% wool and is soft on the feet. It comes in a few color ways, but we offer “Pearl” and “Shadow” as part of our roll special program! Because of its durability, this style works great for wall-to-wall projects, area rugs and stair runners.
Now that you have read through our thoughts on the Color of the Year, 2022’s best trends and our top best sellers, we hope this serves as a guide for your next carpet project! For more information or to set up a consultation, please email us at info@carpetworkroom.com.
