The weather is getting warmer and the flowers are blooming! New projects are being installed left and right, making April a busy month for us.
If you’re new here, each month we share a little background information about three projects — including the location of where it took place and if there is a reason behind why a specific material was selected. The idea is to provide the story of “before” the stair runner and then showcase the “after” photographs with the runner installed.
We’ve selected three of April’s top stair runner transformations to share with our readers. Let us know what you think about them!
Something Light, Something Neutral! (Wayland, MA)
This customer reached out to us because they were inspired by our work featured on Instagram! The homeowner had a vision of adding a stair runner to their home for several reasons; not just safety, but also to add a personal touch to the home. When the customer inquired about the project, they attached a few photos for inspiration, an addition that is very helpful for our project managers. It helps us understand the vibe our customer is going for, making us better prepared for their showroom visit.
This customer loves neutrals and wanted to find something that paired with both the wood color and the wallpaper! Their visit went great and they were able to take a few swatches home. It did not take long for this homeowner to figure out what they liked. They chose Nourison, Splendor Stria in the color Smoke! This material is 55% wool, 37% polyester, 8% nylon and comes in a few colors.
When it came time to select the binding color, the homeowner wanted to match the carpet so they selected a light, almost white binding.
Mad for Plaid (Franklin, MA)
This homeowner had reached out to us looking for a new stair runner for their home. This was a new process for the customer, so we did our best to keep it simple and easy. Luckily, this homeowner did their research and found a few styles they liked on our instagram feed! They sent over photos of their stairs and second floor hallway, and even measured out the longest and widest points of the hallway which gave us enough information to work up a rough estimate without coming out to measure! This made the process move even more quickly!
The homeowner selected a material from our roll special program, Tattersall in the color Shadow. This flat woven material is a durable option for stairs and hallways. The home has children running around so something long lasting and dark were key details. We agreed that bringing the runner up the stairs and into the second floor hallway would help eliminate some noise!

Home Renovation with House of Paige (Stow, MA)
Candace Wilkes of “House of Paige” reached out to collaborate on a personal project and of course we leaped in excitement as we are always looking forward to working with her on any project! Candace had been working on her basement renovations and knew she wanted a runner leading down the stairs. She knew what style she had in mind from the get go! The runner is wall-to-wall and she selected Bungalow in the color Grey. The carpeting is a beautiful flat woven wool with a gray field background and white dots — simple, but sophisticated!
The other portion of the project included selecting an area rug for this large basement space! Candace was looking for a style that was either in our roll special program or a remnant. Since the size was a little larger than our remnant offerings, she opted for Arlen Dune, a style we offer that can be fabricated into a stair runner or area rug. She selected this style is because it is 100% polypropylene (indoor/outdoor) and would clean easily, but also it paired with furniture, flooring and paint colors that were already in the space. She paired a matching narrow cotton binding and it looks absolutely stunning!
Now, it’s time to enjoy some before and after pictures of this space!
