May Transformations

Many of our customers have officially opened their homes on the Cape, near the beach, on the beach, or even on Lakes! New projects of all different sorts are being installed left and right, making May another a busy month for us.

If you’re new here, each month we share a little background information about three projects — including the location of where it took place and if there is a reason behind why a specific material was selected. The idea is to provide the story of “before” the stair runner and then showcase the “after” photographs with the runner installed.

We’ve selected three of May’s top stair runner transformations to share with our readers. Let us know what you think about them!

Instagram Inspiration (Framingham, MA)

This customer reached out to us because they were inspired by our work featured on Instagram! The specific photo is one we see pop up often in inquiries we received. The photo this homeowner referenced was a project we did last summer in collaboration with Loretta Lynch of Salt Bay Studios, whose new studio space is in Framingham.

This homeowner had a vision of adding a stair runner to their home for both safety and style purposes! The customer fell in love with our roll special, Peter Island in the light blue. It is one of the prettiest colors we offer and always looks great on stairs. The classic herringbone pattern is one of the reasons this homeowner selected this carpet style. They also loved the idea of pairing the carpet with an ivory wide cotton binding and nail heads.

Tailored Stair Runner  (Newton Centre, MA)

This homeowner was referred by another customer of ours, and they had reached out to visit our showroom to see what styles we offer. Their first visit was informational, where they found many styles they liked and took home a few to consider. They were torn between choosing a black and white combination or dark navy blue. The homeowner also was particular about the pattern and wanted something with a bigger pattern, either geometric or a plaid.

They settled on a beautiful plaid made by Prestige Mills. The style is Putnam in the color Charcoal, a dark charcoal and white pattern which makes for a contrasting carpet style. This is a wilton product, which is not recommended for homes with pets because of the risk of pulling the small loops that construct wilton products.. See the before and after photos and let us know what you think!

Staircase to HQ (Winchester, MA)

This next project is one of our favorites because of the material selection. This style is popular for its plaid design, wool fiber and color. It’s neutral, classic and subtle, with a design that you can never get old. This homeowner selected Bellbridge, Grand Central in Steel/Ivory, one of our most popular styles from this mill for installation on stairs. The runner runs up their main staircase onto their second floor and then leads to the third floor. The third floor is home to a new small business, Buggy Box Co., that was created during the pandemic! The customer was sweet enough to leave a testimonial for us that we would love to share.

“We were very happy with The Carpet Workroom for our stair runner that was recently installed. From the design process, visiting the showroom to the measurements and installation, everything went smoothly and we are very pleased with the results. It has added warmth, comfort and safety to our hallways and stairs for our 3 kids and our dog. We would recommend them and will plan to use them for future carpet projects.”
